This decade has been very date-oriented for weddings. 1-01-01, 2-02-02, 3-03-03 and so on. Well, 9-09-09 belonged to Emily and Ian and their wonderful families. I’ve worked with a lot of awesome mothers of the bride, but I have to say that this MOB, Lolly, has been one of the sweetest, kindest, and most fun ladies I’ve had the pleasure to work for. She’s truly a special gift to her family, and it made shooting this wedding extra enjoyable for me.
We started off the day at the Grand Boulevard area of Santa Rosa Beach where Emily had her make-up and hair done.

Then back to the beach house to get dressed:

Before doing formals, we took a quick trip over to my favorite spot, Rosemary Beach (where I did Emily and Ian’s engagement photos as well), for some bridals:

A few details:

The ceremony, performed by the groom’s step-father, was simple but elegant:

Then everyone had a fabulous time dancing and eating at the reception:

A beautiful wedding for a great family! Congrats Emily and Ian, and thank you to Lolly and Nick especially for making me such a welcome part of it!

After one rain reschedule, I met with the Barney family Monday for some beach photos. H said she knew I was their photographer after reading on my website that I have twin boys close in age to her own twin boys! It was fun getting to chat to another twin mom and to hear the similarities in the challenges we’ve faced. The whole family was just as sweet as could be, and I’m very happy with the results! Thanks, Barney family!

I’d been looking forward to this wedding for some time now! Not only are Craig and Taisha sweet, fun, and lovely people, but I knew that their Rosemary Beach wedding would be a beautiful one. I started out the day with Taisha and most of the bridesmaids getting ready together. Such a fun group of girls!

Then, since Craig and Taisha agreed to see each other before the wedding (such a smart move, folks, really. Everything flows so much more smoothly when couples do this), we walked around Rosemary Beach, trespassing, making new friends who gave us ice water, and shooting all of the formals.

It was so hot, but Taisha had her faithful fans there to help her through it. Pun intended.

The ceremony was lovely, of course, and everyone had a blast at the reception.

Thank you to Taisha and Craig and their families for allowing me to be the one to photograph their beautiful day!

I left home in the middle of thunderstorms and arrived in Ft. Walton at the beginning of a beautiful sunset. No surprise there! I’ve learned to be an expert radar watcher through our crazy weather here in NW Florida!
I met up with a lovely little family-in-the-making. C and C recently got engaged, and they were vacationing with his sweet daughter, A (or it could be E … depending on the spelling, lol). So this was an engagement/family session all in one. Beautiful! Thanks, guys!

Last weekend gave me the opportunity to stretch my photographic wings in an area I honestly never thought I’d be exploring. Interior and landscape design. I’m a huge fan of interior design. I’ll freely admit that I’m an HGTV junkie. If I weren’t a photographer, I think I’d have pursued design as a career. So imagine my delight when I was contacted by Bill Frech, the brother of one of last year’s brides and an interior/landscape designer in Atlanta. We worked out a plan for documenting some of his residential and commercial designs for a website and portfolio book.
So last Friday, I made the 5 hour trip to north Atlanta with the very helpful Casey Price of Creative Solutions as my assistant. We started work almost immediately after arriving, and the next two days were a whirlwind of beautiful buildings, amazing design, and wonderful people! I got to try out some new photographic techniques (well, new to me) including HDR and to work with equipment that I rarely use as a wedding and portrait photographer.
I’m very pleased with what I’ve seen in editing so far, and I hope that my work gives Bill Frech the notice for his talent that he very much deserves!

We weren’t sure it was going to happen thanks to Claudette coming through this morning, but we got lucky that the rain stopped even if most of the clouds remained! (And most photographers will tell you that we actually prefer the clouds over a sunny sunset!) The Drouins made a long drive from Texas to vacation here, and I’m glad we were able to get their session in. Such a sweet family, and the kids are beyond adorable. Thanks, guys!

It isn’t often that I travel down to Panama City Beach for sessions simply because it’s an hour and a half drive for me each way, but I do it a few times each summer. Last night I made the trip to photograph the Wheat family after we rescheduled due to storms on Wednesday. The weather last night was iffy as well, but we went for it anyway! We were rewarded with some very unusual lighting conditions as a result. It was as if someone had drawn a “weather line” directly in front of us with black clouds to the left (east) and golden/greenish sunshine to the right (west). Then we had the most pink/magenta sunset I’ve seen in a long time. Very strange! But the Wheat family was very sweet and fun to work with, and we got some great shots!
